On March 11, Korea held its first fashion concert at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium. Titled K-Collection in Seoul, the event was an electric blend of a high class fashion show and an idol-filled K-pop concert. With over 20 Korean fashion lines showcased by over 100 supermodels, K-Collection in Seoul‘s mission is to give exposure to domestic fashion brands that have been overshadowed by the bigger international brands.
Despite criticism from fashion industry professionals for placing too much emphasis on idol groups, K-Collection in Seoul has been dubbed “the complete gift set” by the public, thanks to a wide variety of appearances and performances by Korea’s most loved comedians, actors, athletes, and idols. A few fashion-forward idols were also invited to walk down the runway, including 2AM’s Seulong, MBLAQ’s Lee Joon, miss A’s Fei, T-ara’s Hyomin, SECRET’s Sunhwa, and Jewelry’s Eunjung.
The artist lineup consisted of MBLAQ, Infinite, T-ara, miss A, SECRET, Nine Muses, Girls’ Generation (sans an injured Taeyeon and a busy Yoona), and IU. And we can’t leave out Big Bang, who wrapped up the concert with a whirlwind finale, performing three of their newly released songs, “Blue,” “Bad Boy,” and “Fantastic Baby.”
The full concert will be aired on SBS in the coming weeks.
