We’re finally closing in on the rumored October comeback for Girls’ Generation! What have the girls been up to in the year since their last domestic release, The Boys? Taking over Japan, what else? While we wait for their next Korean album, let’s take a quick look-see at what GG has been up to in the land of the rising sun.
The spread of K-pop into the Japanese market hit a bit of a snag recently due to the Dokdo/Takeshima controversy, but as we all well know, nothing stops Girls’ Generation from winning hearts and climbing music charts. GG went into hustle mode after hitting up Letterman and Live! with Kelly in New York City this past spring, dropping two original singles and four music videos in Japan over the course of six months.
To put that in perspective: most top-tier K-pop idol groups are so busy, that they only drop one or two music videos a year, maybe three if the stars are aligned properly.

And that’s not it for 2012, SM Entertainment just announced that the group’s next Japanese single “Flower Power” will be released in November. Hey… isn’t that right after their supposed Korean comeback? Here’s to hoping they show their home base some love before jetting overseas again.
