Houston, we have a boy band. A Entertainment’s latest rookie boy group Attack already debuted at the beginning of July of this year, but they dropped the music video for their debut single, “Plan B,” like just now. Seeing the addictive quality of this single enhanced by the MV’s breathtaking backdrop, it looks like Attack has set their phasers (<— totally a Star Trek reference) to stun.

Sure, Attack is just one of the many rookie boy groups to debut recently, but if it’s any consolation, “Plan B” as a song is an extremely enjoyable listen. The sobering tinkle of this track’s piano intro belies the pumping backbeat found in the rest of this song. It was equally enjoyable and surprising to hear that beat carry through the rest of this track. And as for the MV? Captain, it seems we are under Attack by painfully gorgeous visuals…

You might have a hard time paying attention to the sound of this song if you get distracted by the MV’s unearthly graphics. Not that that’s a bad thing…. It’s almost like Attack started dropping their choreo in the middle of a Halo game. Seriously, the look of this MV is to die for.

Since EXO (another rookie group that debuted earlier this year) made epic space-themed imagery kind of the “new” thing in K-pop MV’s, it’s actually a really smart move for Attack to space-out as well. However, A Entertainment has a lot of good ideas to make their new group stick in the K-pop world of today. Not only has Attack been formed by members from previous K-pop groups (members Jonghoon/Sunghwan from KINO, Jiyoung/Changwoo from SOS), all five of Attack’s members (including remaining member A) have also already debuted in Japan. Mixing in overseas success with rookies who aren’t technically rookies might just be what A Entertainment needs for Attack to receive success in Korea. Smart move…

Do you think this rookie group can make it? What do you think of Attack’s “Plan B” MV?
