Much to the surprise of the majority of the K-pop community, T-ARA is moving forward with their comeback plans sooner than expected. Thanks to a career-threatening scandal, the group’s upcoming mini-album, Mirage, and lead single “Sexy Love,” have experienced a three week delay and are now scheduled for release on September 3.
After the initial controversy involving former member Hwayoung and alleged bullying incidents, T-ARA’s had a hard time drawing favorable attention on and offline. Backlash from all of the bad press lost the group endorsement deals, affected their solo concerts, and even propelled member Eunjung from the cast list of SBS drama, Five Fingers.
This week, Core Contents Media released a statement saying that both parties (T-ARA and Hwayoung) have resolved their differences and the comeback can’t be pushed back any further. They also produced a handwritten apology to fans from the girls. Since netizen reactions regarding the sincerity of the letter have ranged from receptive to skeptical, the welfare of T-ARA’s new single remains uncertain.
“Sexy Love,” T-ARA’s fourth single from Shinsadong Tiger after “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” “Roly Poly” and “Lovey Dovey,” will most likely continue their trend of having two music videos. One will be a continuation of the epic “Day by Day” storyline, while the other will be a dance video featuring the much talked about ‘robot dance.’
