Last night, Psy rode his “Gangnam Style” viral music video wave from over 100 million views straight to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. There he hit the red carpet, performed with UK boyband The Wanted and joined American actor Kevin Hart onstage for a quick gallop or two. Is it safe to say “Gangnam Style” fever is still going strong?
Since The Wanted are well known K-pop fans, we can only imagine how excited they were to perform “Gangnam Style” in its entirety at the Taco Bell Pre-party show. Aww, and they tried so hard to keep up with him, too. No hard feelings, gentlemen–the horseback move takes some serious endurance.

Of course, no one was as pleased about the festivities as the man himself. Near the end of the show, Psy and emcee Kevin Hart rose out of the stage on a platform for a comedy bit. Hart praised the rapper and congratulated him on his epic view-count on YouTube. Psy responded in Korean, saying how honored he was to speak his native language onstage at such a worldwide event. Hart had no idea what was going on, and it was hilarious.
Afterwards, Psy posted the video of the exchange on his Twitter page, saying, albeit mockingly, “I did what I had to do.”

It’s nice to see that “Gangnam Style” fever is still going strong over a month after the song’s release. And now that he’s signed with Scooter Braun’s (Justin Bieber, The Wanted) label, Schoolboy Records, perhaps we’ll be seeing him stateside more often.
