On June 19, several artists gathered together for a press conference concerning MNet’s new program, Show me the Money. The event was a hip-hop name drop party, with the attendance of Verbal Jint, 45RPM, MC Sniper, Hoony Hoon, Garion, Double K, and Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo, who are the official cast members for the rapper version of MBC’s I Am a Singer.
At the press conference, which was held in Seoul Yeongdeungpo’s Time Square, the eight artists shared the spotlight to answer questions and discuss their individual goals for the upcoming program. Show Me the Money will be a performance competition that will pair up the stars with rookie rappers, who were chosen from over 1,000 audition applicants.
SHOW ME THE MONEY – ARTIST HIGHLIGHT REEL
We’re impressed with MNet’s drive to diversify their music show genres, even if they’d chosen an amusingly cliche title. Production director Lee Sun Young elaborated on this effort to News Entertainment, “Show Me the Money will be the first hip-hop program Mnet will be producing in 10 years since 2000-2004′s Hip Hop the Vibe. After the successful launch of audition programs like ‘Superstar K‘ and The Voice Korea, we have been working to produce shows of other genres.”
He continued, “Rap has been consistently loved by music fans of all genres, as it’s been incorporated in genres like dance all this while. Show Me the Money aims to present a variety of stages that combine these elements.” (via NewsEn)
Show Me the Money begins airing on June 22 at 11PM KST.
