Straight off of the collaborative album from producer duo Duble Sidekick, comes Kim Tae Woo‘s “Looking At Myself Makes Me Sad” MV featuring actor Ryu Seung Bum. Reveling in the depression that follows a harsh break-up, this powerful MV soars with beautiful interludes and a visually enthralling concept.
Both former g.o.d lead singer Kim Tae Woo who sings this track, and actor Ryu Seung Bum listened to Duble Sidekick’s “Looking At Myself Makes Me Sad” and immediately wanted to participate in the track. While Kim Tae Woo’s vocals are powerful and uplifting in contrast to the break-up heartache discussed, Tae Woo’s voice shines the most in this MV when a stunning Chroma Key effect stains actor Ryu Seung Bum’s lips with wine.
Apparently, the video’s “life in the room” concept performed by Ryu Seung Bum was entirely his idea, and throughout this video’s filming, Seung Bum stayed in character, not causing a single outtake before filming wrapped. The overall effect of his incredible acting brings a genuine solemnity to this track’s MV, so Duble Sidekick must be pretty stoked that Ryu Seung Bum and Kim Tae Woo wanted to participate. The end result is marvelous.
Off of Duble Sidekick’s upcoming project album, this MV is said to be one of many big name collaborations slated for Duble Sidekick’s album debut. That shouldn’t make anyone ‘sad,’ right?
