Virginia born singer-songwriter turned soulful California styled pop-rocker Jason Mraz will begin his international Tour is a Four Letter Word tour in Busan, South Korea this Friday, June 8. Then the world-known Grammy winner will continue his stint in Korea at the Rainbow Island Music & Camping Festival on June 9.
Speaking candidly about touring in Seoul, Mraz chimed back in 2009, “I have said in numerous interviews around the world that my favorite place to play is Korea.” Lauding Korea’s “generous” audiences for how they “don’t just boogie, they bounce,” Mraz was charmed into hitting up Nami Island this weekend by last year’s sold-out Rainbow Island Festival headliner KT Tunstall.
But the private island of Namiseon, which only allows public visitors to camp out just one weekend out of the year during the festival, will host 36 acts altogether. American “Jar of Hearts” singer-songwriter Christina Perri will headline the festival’s second day on June 10, and is also a part of Mraz’ world tour lineup. re On the docket for this weekend on “Rainbow Island” are Korean rocker Lee Seung-ryeol, indie jammers Kim C and bassist Ko Beom-joon of Hot Potato, American DJ and producer Felix da Housecat, Superstar K3 runner up Busker Busker, Idiotape and recent MTV K B-Sides featured artist The Koxx.
With a lineup like that, this weekend’s festival is sure to kick Jason Mraz’s tour into high gear, with stops to follow including Bangkok, Thailand on June 16, then Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
