It was announced yesterday that G-Dragon will be taking his solo album promotions to live music and talk program Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook. No big deal, right? Talented musicians like GD are invited to Sketchbook all the time… Oh, wait, that’s a KBS show.

YG Entertainment and the Korean Broadcasting System have had beef with each other for a few years now. YG artists boycotted the KBS Gayo Daejun (their end-of-the-year music festival) in 2010, which may have hurt a few feelings on an executive level.  As a result, G-Dragon’s performance on Sketchbook will be the first time a YG artist makes an appearance on a KBS show in nearly three years.

Does that mean the two companies are making moves to resolve their differences? Perhaps. It may also mean that YG artists have become such a force in the music industry that they can’t be ignored any longer. Both Psy and G-Dragon have competed for first place on KBS ranking show Music Bank, proving that both singers have major pull with the station’s viewers without even appearing on the program.

Anyway, more G-Dragon for us, so we’ll take it. Political issues aside, we’re pretty excited for whatever KBS has planned for the upcoming episode. Perhaps we’ll be treated to another live performance of “That XX?” Yes, please.

What song do you want to see GD perform live on Sketchbook
