The next song to receive a music video from BoA‘s latest studio album, “Only One,” is “The Shadow,” a hip-hop/dance-pop fusion track. As one of BoA’s signature mid-tempo dance beats, it properly showcases the footwork we praise her for every time she hits the stage.
The lyrics describe the many sides of herself. She sees them in mirrors; they change when she changes. She dances with them when the lights come up —poetic stuff. As for the music video, there are some cool CG effects that make “The Shadow” visually interesting, but many scenes creep into “dancing in a box” territory. Of course, SM Entertainment is infamous for using this motif on more than one occasion, so it’s not that much of a surprise.

By the way, have you been keeping up with BoA’s live performances of “Only One?” The duet break in the choreography has featured a few of SM’s more skilled idol dancers; namely Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk, SHINee‘s Taemin, and most recently, EXO-K‘s Sehun.
