Former SBS K-pop Star, now JYP Entertainment soloist, Baek A-Yeon, is gearing up for the release of her very first solo album, titled I’m Baek. “Sad Song” is the album’s first single, and it’s accompanying MV teaser beautifully showcase the singer’s vocals set against a fantastic, dream-like set.

Almost like Alice lost in the depths of the rabbit hole, Baek A-Yeon’s soft voice pierces the darkness of a completely surreal set.

Initially, this song was titled “Slow Song,” yet its English translation has been deemed as “Sad Song” most probably due to the morose quality of this track’s beginning sound. However, right at the end of this short teaser, an acoustic guitar swings A-Yeon’s voice into a flittering major chord territory, foreshadowing that this track could end on an up note.

The K-pop Star made it all the way into the final three of SBS’s vocal competition, so it’s safe to assume that A-Yeon’s got the goods for a successful first album. We’ll have to wait to see what that album actually sounds like though, when I’m Baek and the album’s single MV, “Sad Song,” are released on the 10 of this month.
