It looks like 2NE1 overbooked themselves this summer. Between promotions for “I Love You,” preparing for a world tour and compiling Korean and English albums, the ladies have been quite the busy bees. As a result, YG Entertainment decided to nix the new single scheduled for release on July 28.The original plan was to drop a new single three weeks after the July 5 release of “I Love You” and to continue live promotions uninterrupted. However, with the kick-off date of the New Evolution world tour looming in the near future (in a matter of hours, to be exact), it became apparent that too many activities would spread 2NE1 too thin. After an emergency meeting this week, YG released an official statement announcing the cancellation. Instead, focus will be shifted into the long term for the girls’ new album this October.
Fans are understandably disappointed, but can you imagine traveling the world for a couple of months and having to truck it back home every week for more live performances? That’s just madness. Plus, as YG also stated, now 2NE1 can focus fully on the tour and the production staff has more time to produce a higher quality album. Can’t argue with that.
By the way, have you picked up your New Evolution tickets for the US dates yet? Better get moving. Two weeks go by pretty fast.
